CEB has agreed to release Rs. 250mil on a daily basis to all Renewable Energy Developers

After numerous meetings with the CEB Officials, GM CEB and FM CEB has agreed to release Rs. 250mil on a daily basis to all Renewable Energy Developers and gradually clearing our outstandings. Presently they are in the process of settling May 2022 invoices and shall start June 2022 around the 22nd of June 2023. Hopefully, CEB is in the process of procuring a loan facility from Sampath Bank Plc and People's Bank Plc. in order to settle the RE Developers.

The Executive Committee decided to continue with the same office bearers for one (01) more year barring Mr. Manjula Gajanayake from Co-opt member position since it is difficult for him to participate in the SHPDA committee meetings and has not attended many SHPDA Meetings as well. A new member would be appointed as a Co-opt member at the up-coming AGM.

It was decided by the Executive Committee to host the SHPDA 16th ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING to be held on the 19th of July 2023 (Wednesday) starting @ 6.00 P. M. at "RIDGEWAYS" Royal Colombo Golf Club, Borella

Protest

A peaceful protest was held on 24th May 2022, in front of CEB head office in view of the workers of the Renewable Energy Sector in Sri Lanka, where they have not been paid for power supplied since August 2021. The total debt outstanding is Rs 23 Billion as of May 2022. This sector provides about 1200 MW to the National Grid which is around 12 % of the power of the grid. If payment towards settling this date is not made soon, there is a real danger of 7000 workers losing their jobs in the sector.
